Moon Days |
The full moon and new moon phases occur at a specific moment in time. The rest day is the day of your practice time closest to the full or new moon phase. For example, if you practice in the morning, and the moon phase occurs at 3 am, you would skip practice the morning after the 3 am moon phase. If you were an evening practitioner, you would skip practice the night before the 3 am phase, because that's closer to your regular practice time than the following day. For information about why we take the moon days off, please visit Tim Miller's website. How the moon days in this chart are calculated: For the schedule of shala closings, when the full or new moon phase occurs between morning and night, that day is the moon day. When the phase occurs in the middle of the night: if it is closer to the previous night's evening class, the previous day has been taken as the moon day; if it is closer to the following day's morning class, the following day has been taken as the moon day. For more information about the moon and time, visit the U.S. Naval Observatory's Astronomical Applications website. Check out the FAQ section. |
